After graduation from Michigan State University, Bill started out selling weekly newspaper advertising and over the years has sold advertising for a wide variety of media. Additionally, Bill has worked at the retail level, sold consulting and other services. He has extensive experience in selling to the corporate level.
Bill has held a number of management positions in different fields including newspapers, cable, consumer expositions and was the executive director for two associations. Bill has experience as a magazine publisher, has managed a tax office and has hired and trained sales and support staffs. Even though he holds a BA in English, he is proud to have earned a Ph.D. through his varied business experiences and the school of hard knocks.
As a writer, consultant, speaker and coach Bill specializes on marketing, advertising, sales development and customer service.
Bill Kendy is an award winning writer having written hundreds of articles for publications such as Selling Power, Advertising Age, Crain’s Detroit Business, Stores Magazine (National Retail Federation), and SHOT Business (National Shooting Sports Foundation). He has worked as the managing editor for Fishing Tackle Retailer and is a contributing writer and columnist for the magazine. . Bill is also the content director for multiple association websites.
Kendy has presented seminars and conducted training sessions for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the National Association of Consumer Shows, Michigan Retail Association, SHOT University, ESPN Outdoors, Community Newspapers of Michigan, PSE Archery and other organizations. Bill's emphasis of work with independent retailers is to help them grow their businesses.
In addition, Bill has done a number of webinars and videos on retail sales, add-on selling, low-cost/no cost promotions, and advertising/marketing (including co-op advertising) for trade associations.
